Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th in 1980) was an American actress, singer and dancer. Her early Broadway productions included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. In the musical, Hair. Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning director, actors and producers for most of her career. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's current project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford is set to appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. This production will be produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who created Hamilton. Ashford's last role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the CBS hit comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. She has also appeared in Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original part as Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and now divides her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
